My name is Tim Lodge, and I am proud to represent Great Britain as a Paralympic canoeist. At 53 years old, I reflect on a journey that has been anything but ordinary one defined by perseverance, transformation, and the unwavering belief that it’s never too late to rewrite your story.

Born to Overcome

I was born with a gross talipes disability. By the age of 10, I had already undergone 22 operations and endured 59 anaesthetics. My left foot alone carries 13 pins and plates a daily reminder of the challenges I’ve faced from the very beginning. Despite this, I always believed in pushing forward.

Canoeing was a passion of mine as a teenager, but life took me down a different path. For over two decades, I worked in the corporate world. Then, in 2013, everything changed. I received an unexpected call from my former canoeing coach, who asked if I’d consider training as a Paralympic athlete. At that time, I was far from being in shape, but something inside me said “yes.” That moment sparked a transformation that would define the rest of my life.

The Road to Racing for Great Britain

Re-entering the world of elite sport after 20 years was no small feat. But with dedication and discipline, I turned my life around. I now compete at marathon distances for Great Britain, and over the past few years, I’ve had the honour of winning a silver medal at the World Championships and a gold at the European Championships in 2024. I’m currently training to represent my country once again next week at the European Canoe Marathon Championships.

A Life-Changing Partnership with Levitas Clinic

Despite my progress, the physical toll of training began to catch up with me. At one point, conversations about amputating both feet became very real. That’s when I found Levitas Clinic and Dr. Ash Kapoor a turning point in my journey that I will never forget.

Over the past year, Dr. Kapoor and I have worked together to manage my chronic inflammation and improve my overall wellbeing. Through a combination of fasting protocols and advanced shockwave therapy, we’ve achieved incredible results. For the first time, I experienced a significant reduction in inflammation and a dramatic improvement in blood flow to my legs and feet.

Before surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff, I followed a fasting regimen and received Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+) therapy. Despite a lifelong history of high blood pressure, my pre-surgery readings were completely normal something I had never experienced before. It was a profound moment of validation for the healing power of this approach.

Following the surgery, I resumed fasting and, to my amazement, my surgical scars healed within just nine days. This wasn’t just a physical transformation it was a mental and emotional breakthrough. Fasting became a powerful tool, helping me manage inflammation while sharpening my mindset and mental resilience.

A Transformation Beyond the Podium

At the 2023 World Championships, I weighed 105kg. Today, I compete at 85kg. This 20kg weight loss has alleviated immense pressure from my feet and significantly enhanced my performance. But more importantly, it has improved my quality of life.

I am deeply grateful to Dr. Ash Kapoor and everyone at Levitas Clinic. Their knowledge, care, and commitment to my journey have been nothing short of life-changing. The results speak for themselves not just in medals, but in the simple, priceless ability to walk on a sandy beach without pain.

Looking Ahead

My journey continues, and I’m more excited than ever about what lies ahead. The partnership with Levitas Clinic has given me more than physical relief it’s given me hope, strength, and the belief that no challenge is too great to overcome. Tim Lodge extends his sincere gratitude to Dr. Kapoor for his instrumental support in helping him regain both his professional career and quality of life.
